For all of you Rice Krispie treat fans- I have some important information to share. Rice Krispies are NOT gluten-free!! I repeat both the cereal and the treats are NOT gluten-free! I swear this is one of the most common mistakes I see gluten-free families making. There was a short period of time the company made the cereal gluten-free, but they unfortunately went back to the original recipe which includes barley malt.
So, time to find some gluten-free alternatives to those tasty rice and marshmallow treats. Starbucks does an awesome job with their GF marshmallow dream bar. And there are also plenty of easy GF Rice Crispy treat recipes online. I also have one to share below that is a healthier chocolate Rice Crispy treat alternative. Enjoy!
If you're a fan of Rice Crispy treats, or other chocolate treats, this may be the recipe for you. These are a tasty combined healthy version of the two.
