I was recently approached at the DC GF Expo and asked by multiple newly diagnosed people about where I eat in the Burke/Springfield area. My answer is- All Over! There are SOO many places coming out with gluten-free menus now. Yes, you do have to drive a little bit, but that's just the curse of the Burke area in general unfortunately. For an area with so many people, there is seriously a lack of local restaurants. But head over to the Fairfax or Springfield areas and there are TONS of gluten-free options available. Here are a few of my favorites.
Mosaic District- I have long said that the Mosaic District is GF paradise. They just keep getting better and better with gluten-free offerings. These restaurants all have GF menus available.
True Food Kitchen- http://www.truefoodkitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/TFK-FF_Menu_FULL_web.pdf
Taylor Gourmet- http://www.taylorgourmet.com/
Jinya Ramen Bar- http://mosaicdistrict.com/dine/jinya-ramen-bar/
Cyclone Anaya's- www.cycloneanaya.com/vegetarian-gluten-free/
Springfield Town Center- The new Springfield mall is getting some great places that offer gluten-free options.
Zinburger- www.zinburgereast.com/assets/0416_zin_menu.pdf (Fantastic shakes and children's menu available as well)
Silver Diner- www.silverdiner.com/menu/chef-selections
Great American Restaurants- www.greatamericanrestaurants.com/
Both of these options are chains with locations available all over the NOVA area.
Clifton- This is one of my FAVORITE areas! It is such a cute little village with great historic charm and there are some great restaurants with GF offerings.
Trattoria Villagio- trattoriavillagio.com/about/ (GF pasta available and they will tailor make almost anything for you. Customer service is AMAZING!)
Trummer's on Main- www.trummersonmain.com/ (Probably my favorite restaurant in the entire NOVA area. Their brunch is to die for!)
The DC GF Expo was last week and was even more fantastic than last year. Each year it truly gets bigger and better! There were tons of awesome new vendors and products. I'll be writing about them in more detail here in upcoming posts.
There were also some extremely interesting educational sessions,
including one on GF Travel Tips by yours truly. :) I'm attaching the video here so you can watch for yourself. There's one on GF baking, GF pantry products, some scientific Celiac updates. I'm at the one hour mark btw. www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXSFQsHzITc&sns=em
I'm also giving a talk at the Wildfire GF dinner and wine pairing next Thursday June 23rd. Here's the link and info if you're interested in attending. They always provide a fantastic meal and great conversation! Hope to see you there! wildfirerestaurant.com/events/gluten-free-wine-dinner-4/
