Crave Right Cookie Review
Great Harvest Bread is known for making some of the most delicious bread creations in the area. Sweet, savory- they have it all. With shops in the Burke and Lorton areas and booths at many of the local farmer's markets there are many opportunities to enjoy their delicacies. And now they cater to the gluten-free population as well. Every Thursday they offer a sweet and a savory gluten-free bread. Living around the block from their Burke store now, I have to admit I'm becoming a regular Thursday customer. Some of the delicious options I've enjoyed so far have been the Lemon/Blueberry scones and the Pumpkin chocolate bread pictured above. I can't wait to see what they come up with next. So if you're in the area and craving some real homemade bread, make sure you check out Great Harvest Bread!
UPDATE: Since this post I have recently learned that Great Harvest Bread has stopped making their gluten-free products. Although they warned consumers about the possibility of a cross-contamination issue there was a complaint filed and Great Harvest decided to address it by no longer making these products. Sad for the rest of us :(
As you may know, I recently moved to the Burke area. So we've been exploring and getting to know our new neighborhood. We stumbled upon Glory Days one night when we were looking for a casual place with gluten-free options. I was pleasantly surprised to see that not only do they have an extensive menu of gluten-free offerings, they also have healthy alternatives. For instance, in addition to the usual burger and fries combo, they also offer bison, turkey, and chicken burgers. They also offer an upgrade to USDA Prime quality meats. And as an alternative to fries, you can order steamed vegetables or roasted potatoes. Another plus? They offer gluten-free beers and ciders as a treat to kick back and relax with the crowd. So if you're looking for a family-friendly, casual restaurant where you can get some tasty gluten-free eats, check out Glory Days Grill.
