About Gluten Free NOVA Girl
Joyana McMahon has an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of New Orleans and a MS in Education from Long Island University. She taught English for years to students ranging in ages from middle school to college age. In 2010 she began her struggle with autoimmune disease. She began a gluten free lifestyle in 2012 and has since focused on becoming as healthy as she can be. In 2014 she left teaching to begin writing about her journey to “real” health with a gluten free lifestyle. She has since been published in magazines like Gluten Free Living, Eating Well, and Delight.
She has continued to expand her knowledge in nutrition and healthy lifestyles and became a certified holistic health coach. Joyana also works as the Education Coordinator of the Celiac Disease Program at Children’s National Health System.
